On the news front, Delta Airlines is said to have hired well-known lawyer David Boies to sue CrowdStrike and Microsoft for the previous large-scale network outage. The company is seeking compensation. Previously, CrowdStrike caused a blue screen of death on about 8.5 million Windows computers worldwide due to an error in a software update, and Delta Airlines suffered widespread flight disruptions and service failures. It is estimated that the outage caused Delta Airlines to lose between $350 million and $500 million. After nearly 7,000 flights were canceled, Delta Airlines is processing more than 176,000 requests for refunds or compensation.
